Karyavinayak Temple

This festival of the elephant headed god, the Ganesha falls towards the end of March or the beginning of April. As per the lunar calendar it is celebrated on the exact same day when Ghoda Jatra is celebrated in Kathmandu. On this day, the idol of lord Ganesha of the Karyabinayak temple is carried on a palanquin and carried around Bungamati escorted by the traditional musical band. On this day the people of Bungamati invite their relatives and enjoy the elaborate Newari feast.
